Dee-Hilfiger-Tommy-Hilfiger-2011-Met-GalaAlexander-McQueen-Savage-BeautyTommy Hilfiger and his wife, Dee, along with Autism Speaks, invited moms, friends and media to the Lambs Club to celebrate her handbag line, Deesigns. Dee Hilfiger will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of 4,000 handbags, valued at $280,000, to the charity. The three-in-one handbags, clutches and totes are available at shop.autismspeaks.org. As a Mother’s Day special, the bags are priced at $88 until May 12 to reflect that one in 88 children in the U.S. are on the autism spectrum.

Dee, who has an 18-year-old son with autism, said she got involved with the organization as a board member “since it was personal to me.” Hilfiger, too, has a 17-year-old autistic daughter from his first marriage. Dee encouraged the mothers of autistic children to work together to fight autism.
In other news, Dee is also designing a higher-end handbag line of exotic skins, retailing between $3,500 and $5,500, that will be sold exclusively at Harrods this fall.
